Motor Starters – PKZM0

Whether type "1" or type "2" coordination, PKZM0 motor starter combinations with DILM contactors for up to 4 kW/400V control short-circuit currents up to 100kA. There is no need for upstream protective devices.

The IEC/EN 60947 standard classifies motor starters according to type "1" and type "2" coordination. This specifies the response of the motor starters under short-circuit conditions.

Both coordination types ensure the safe disconnection of the short-circuit. The only difference is the state of the motor starter after the short circuit has occurred. Motor starters complying with type "1" coordination are inexpensive starters for standard applications. The standard allows the starter to be damaged by short circuits.

In the case of motor starters including a PKZM0, only the contactor needs to be checked, since PKZM0 motor-protective circuit-breakers always comply with type "2" coordination.

A PKZM0 motor-protective circuit-breaker with a DILM contactor provides coordination type "1" or "2", depending on the combination. The commonest applications can thus be covered with just a few standard components, resulting in major stockholding advantages.
